Bloom with Beauty

Bonny Doon Blooms is a regenerative flower farm rooted in the Santa Cruz Mountains, born from fire, memory, and a deep commitment to beauty and belonging. Though we officially launched in the wake of the CZU Lightning Complex fires, our story begins generations earlier—with my great-grandfather Massera, who came from Switzerland through Ellis Island and settled his family in California’s Salinas Valley. He was a flower farmer, and his favorite blooms were lilies.

My mother grew up running barefoot through his fields, falling in love with flowers of all kinds—especially roses. For her, flower farming became a form of soul release, a way to find peace and purpose while raising a large family. She and my father eventually settled in the San Joaquin Valley, in the small town of Peters, California, where the rhythms of land and family continued to intertwine.

And there’s another garden that lives in me: my grandmother Gladis, my father’s mother, raised irises in Loomis, California, on a quiet stretch called No Name Lane. Her garden was a sanctuary of color and care, and I now steward her iris collection with reverence. These irises bloom each spring as a living memory—reminding me that legacy isn’t just inherited, it’s tended.

Bonny Doon Blooms carries all these stories forward. We grow seasonal flowers with integrity, using regenerative practices that support soil health, pollinators, and biodiversity. Our bouquets are not just arrangements—they are sensory experiences, crafted to evoke memory, emotion, and connection.

Our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program offers members more than just flowers. Each week, they receive a curated bouquet that reflects the season’s mood and palette, accompanied by a card that shares reflections from the field. These cards deepen the relationship between grower and recipient, inviting members into the rhythms of the land and the stories behind each stem. Our market booth is designed to feel like a sanctuary—colorful, welcoming, and grounded in care.
